Abstract

In this talk I will share my experiences about my start-up life, game accessibility and the importance of gaming for people with disabilities. After my presentation everyone will know why it is important to include "easy" difficulty levels in games and what is important to actually make games accessible for anyone.

Markus Pröll studied Software Engineering & Business at the Graz University of Technology, Austria. During his master's studies he worked with the Institute of Knowledge Discovery, Laboraty of Brain-Computer Interfaces, Graz. He is a passionate video gamer and has a strong interest in the gaming industry as such. Since 2012 Pröll is the head of a start-up company called Xcessity. Xcessity is designing affordable input controllers for people with severe disabilities.

Abstract

The aim of this presentation is to discuss the strategies behind the Brazilian mobile game ROCK FLICZ created by SIOUX Studio in 2016. We will analyze the strategical concept for a game, since the information architecture till the final interface. In the end we will try to understand how a casual game could be a platform for bands, advertising, and brands partnerships.

M.A. Vicente Martin Mastrocola is a Postgraduate Research student and graduation level teacher at ESPM/São Paulo, Brazil; Vicente has worked at ESPM University (São Paulo/Brazil) as a Digital Media teacher since 2005 and as supervisor of the Creativity Department since 2012. Vicente also works as game designer in Brazil, developing games for mobile platforms and analogical board games/card games. Abstract

Skiline is all about creating unique emotions on mountains and the fully automated production of digital memories for users. On top of our products, we intensively utilize gamification concepts to realize incomparable competions, challenges and events. In my talk I will provide some facts about Skiline and present our products and gamification approach which attract millions of users.

Bonifaz Kaufmann studied Informatics at the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt, the University of Westminter, and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. For his contribution to Human-Computer Interaction research, he received a doctorial degree from the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt. Bonifaz published several mobile apps serving millions of users and he worked as a CTO for a start-up company which created highly interactive 3D underwater maps with Unity3D. Currently, Bonifaz works as a technology consultant and is Head of Product Management at Skiline, where he is focussed on developing new products while constantly improving already established ones.
